Five Easy Ways to Improve Your Nutrition Today

Diets suck. There I said it and feel so much better. Nobody likes diets, the very work makes most of our stomachs turn. A diet brings up the idea of depriving yourself things you enjoy and why would any sane human being want to do that? So instead of diet think of the way you eat as your nutritional plan, at the very least it sounds better. A sound nutritional plan involves general healthy eating, allowing you some crave satisfying treats and the occasional cheat. Basically it’s building a foundation of making the right decision amongst the options and constantly improving your selections. So with that in mind here are five simple things you can easily implement into your nutrition plan that will have you moving closer to your goals.
1. Drink green tea – green tea has been credited with everything from weight loss to stress reduction to cancer prevention. It isn’t clear how much of all that is accurate but I can tell you from my own experience green tea is great for energy improvement, mental clarity and weight loss assistance. Remember those studies touting the benefits of green tea are based on consuming four cups of green tea a day and not on green tea extract promoted in supplements.
2. Don’t drink soda – here is a little realized fact soda causes stomach bloating so even diet soda will make you puffy and if you’re watching your nutrition I am guessing puffy isn’t your goal. So replace that soda with water or unsweetened tea so you can see your results in the mirror and the scale.
3. Replace fatty meats with lean protein – sure I love a good steak every once in a while but on a regular basis I pick chicken, fish, and turkey over those fattier meats. Your body needs protein especially if you are strength training but just make sure you pick lean proteins so you are not getting a ton of extra fat and calories with your protein.
4. Eat every two to three hours – start with a good breakfast (I usually start with either scrambled egg whites or oatmeal with raisins and cinnamon) and eat every two to three hours after that. Regular intake is essential to keep your body functioning properly and your metabolism burning. Keep the calories low and the portion size to the size of your fist.
5. Eat more fruits and vegetables – despite the best efforts of a number of modern fad diets there are few things as good for your body as fruits and vegetables. I mean ignoring the millions spend on fad diet advertising and using plan old common sense fruits and vegetables are part of what your body was built to run on in the first place! So make sure you have some vegetables of varying colors with your meals and snack on fruits and your body will in a short time be running better than it has in years.
These are real simple and easy changes you can make today that will have dramatic effects on your tomorrows!
